Bead size is within 2-50ul, while typical size is among 15-20ul. There are three key process stages for bead production

 1. Precision micro dispensing. Bead’s low volume and high consistency requires precision dispensing system. It is very difficult for syringe pump or pipette that people are familiar with to continuously dispense reagent at micro-liter level with acceptable consistency in shape and size. If shape and size of finished beads are not consistent, it will affect bead package to reagent disk / card, test process, and test result.

 2. Safe addition of liquid nitrogen: LN2 has ultra-low temperature of -194℃ and continuous volatility. When adding LN2, it is important to have a well-ventilated workshop and safe LN2 addition equipment to ensure operator’s safety. At present, the common way to fill a container or vessel with liquid nitrogen is direct funnel filling method. If the LN2 vessel capacity is small, the insulation performance is low, and the vessel open caliber is large, the operator needs to keep watching the LN2 level and frequently shut down machine to add LN2. This will not only increase safety risk, but also reduce production efficiency.

 Guangzhou Ascend supplies manual or automatic LN2 addition system for customer’s safe production of lyophilized beads. For Guangzhou Ascend manual LN2 system, when LN2 system pump head is pressed, the system starts building a small over pressure, forcing the liquid gently to rise into the fill line, and fall into customer Dewar, or other small LN2 container. After pressure on the pump head is released, the system shuts off automatically, and the flow stops.

For Guangzhou Ascend automatic LN2 system, it can add LN2 to Dewar or container automatically. It is a much safer and smart solution for LN2 addition and bead production.

 3. Rapid collection of lyophilized beads: Lyophilized beads need to be collected quickly and safely from LN2 container and processed after bead production. Some reagents cannot stay in the low temperature environment of liquid nitrogen -194℃ for too long. Some type of lyophilized beads needs to be safely and efficiently removed from LN2 and stored in dry ice or other low temperature environment. Guangzhou Ascend lyophilized bead system incorporates a unique mechanism design to facilitate the rapid collection and transfer of lyophilized beads.
